You’re high above the ground in a revolving transparent cage. A six year old girl sharing this cage is talking about the cage dropping and falling, and everyone dying. A four year old boy hearing all this is getting nervous. A 40 year old with newly discovered vertigo is hoping, no, praying it will all be over soon.
No-one, it has to be said, is feeling Christmasy.
But the Wheel of Light, in situ in Jubilee Square to foster seasonal excitement, does afford some sterling views. Even if those views are sharpened by the fear of your own fragile mortality.
